The Lovely Snooze Button

funny cat pictures & lolcats - 5 moreƂ minutes.

This is so me. Every morning.

Although, I like to think I've gotten better. I only hit the snooze button a couple of times now. Used to drive Coach nuts.... I'd set my alarm for an hour before I had to actually be up. I knew I'd hit the snooze button that many times.

Sadly, I think my kids may be the same way. Jock isn't so bad, he just forgets to set his alarm at all and waits for me to get him up. Backfired on him this morning when I didn't get him up until 20 minutes before he had to catch the bus for school! Bug is turning out just like me. He might actually be worse. He doesn't even ever remember hearing the alarm go off, let alone hitting the snooze button. And then when I come in to wake him? He rolls right back over after I leave and goes to sleep again. On really bad mornings, he'll actually get up.... but then he'll walk down the hall into my room and crash on my bed.

And if you think all of this extra snoozing makes any of us more cheerful in the mornings? You would be sadly mistaken, my friends. The boys grunt. Me... I just snap at anyone lacking the wisdom to keep their distance. I am not a morning person. I don't think I'm even much of a mid-day person. And God help you if you happen to be on the other end of the phone when you call and wake me up. Trust me. I'm not a nice person. Its not something you want to witness first hand. My own mother has even stopped calling me early in the morning to wish me a happy birthday. (Because apparently, nothing says "I love you" more than calling the birthday girl at the butt-crack of dawn. Its not like I was even born in the morning! I wasn't! But my brothers picked up this nasty habit as well. They don't do it anymore, either!) I'm not entirely sure, but I think there was some rudeness and disrespect on my part directed towards her. So in the interest of maintaining family love.... Coach and I have both warned my entire family that they might want to wait until later in the day. :)

So I'm curious. Anyone else out there with an allergy to getting out of bed the first time, every time? I can't be the only one.

Can I?

I rarely hit the snooze button, but I don't get up immediately either. The alarm goes off, I turn it off, turn on the tv and lay there for a while watching our crazy ass weatherman with one eye open. I usually end up getting out of bed 10 minutes after Alex has been in the shower, hit my own bathroom and flush so that is his signal to get out and quit hogging the hot water. LOL!

But, I'm with you on not being a morning person. I'm good as long as things run smoothly. If anyone is crabby at me, fights or has an issue in any way, I go for barely awake to Wicked Witch in 0.2 seconds.

OMG...it's like you're writing about me. My husband have learned to live with it. To this day, I'd set my alarm at 5AM with a goal of being out of bed by 6AM. It would snooze for 9minutes. Drives everyone else batty...but isn't alarm clock for snoozing?

I'm a minimum two snooze button hits kind of person. It's a good thing my husband sleeps by the alarm clock or I'd never get up on time.

I'm one of those people you'd freakin' hate. I'm all about the mornings.

Smiling and everything :)

I always wake up before the alarm goes off and get angry with myself cause I could have slept that little while. But then nothing gets in the way of that sacred cup of coffee. No language spoken, no looking at me, and DO NOT SPEAK to me until after the first cup. This has been my house rule forever.

Sue: I hear ya on the Wicked Witch thing. :) Its a sad lesson my boys learned.... hehehe

Midas: I had to quit setting it so early in the interest of keeping the hubby in the bed with me. :)

Mo: Fortunately, mine wakes me up (well, sort of... kisses me goodbye) as he leaves for work so I have somewhat of an idea its time to start moving.

Slick: It figures you'd be one of those annoying morning people! :)

Anon: Can't say I've ever beat the alarm..... but I understand the need for morning caffeine. Only for me its more along the lines of a Diet Pepsi or Diet Dr. Pepper! :)

I use to SO not be a morning person. I'd be able to sleep til 2pm if I was left alone long enough. All that changed when I had kids, though.

Now, like today, I was up at 4:30 & out the door to go walking at 5am. On the weekend if I sleep past 6:30-7am I better be hung over b/c I feel like I've wasted my day.

My little one is a morning person, my oldest is a bitch to get up. Ugh.

Cece: I forgot you actually ENJOY the butt-crack of dawn. :) *shudders* exercise... ugh

HI there!
First let me say that my name "dawn" is terribly misleading. I should have been named "dusk". The only morning person in this house is my daughter, shes 2, so there is still plenty of time for that to change.
As far as the comment above mine, about "the crack of dawn" I am choosing to pretend I didn't see that.
Thank you so much for finding my blog and linking to it from yours. I will happily return the connection. I am wondering though if it would be too much trouble to ask that you list my link as either ..gulf coast mommy
or...I Love You Too Much ?
kitterman's Khaos is mainly just my handle.
I realize now (being very green to the blogosphere) that I should not have so many AKAs. I fear it is too late to change my handle to "gulfcoastmommy" as so many recgonize me as Kitterman's Khaos in comments, while my blog is identified by the other two names I given you. I am trying to work with the confusion I have created, and keep my blog somewhat identifiable through links.

Sorry to be such a pain in the ass.
thank you again for reading my writes.
much respect~d

Hi Dawn! Thanks for stopping by! I'll be glad to change the name to whichever you'd prefer! Just let me know. For now, I'll change it to "I Love You Too Much" since that is the title of it on the homepage, if that's ok. Like I said, just let me know if you want me to change it. I understand about the confusion with the different names.... mine isn't the same as my blog name, either! :)

Thanks for linking back to me, too!
