It's Not OCD.... I'm Just A Control Freak

Do you think my dog actually cares if his food and water dishes get switched? Its not like I imagine him looking at the dishes and thinking "Is this woman crazy?? I can't possibly live like this!" But it makes me breathe easier when they're in the *right* place.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have a very specific order to walking through the grocery store. It drives Coach nuts when he goes with me, and he'll frequently decide to take the cart off in a different direction because he "forgot" something on another isle. If ever I have decided to switch it up a little and live dangerously.... I feel very off kilter for the rest of the day.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Again, at the grocery store (what is it with that place??)..... when buying eggs, I have to actually pick up each individual egg in the carton to check for breaks. I just know the first time I do only a quick glance will be the day I go home with half a dozen broken eggs.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There also is a very specific order to my silverware drawer. Jock has never managed to get it right, and he's been doing the dishes for years now. YEARS, people. I always have to go back behind him and fix it all. I think he does it on purpose, hoping to get out of doing the dishes the next time. At some point, he will realize that is a battle he will never win, as I can out-stubborn him forever. Where does he think he got that lovely little personality trait from, anyway?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The rest of my house, however, is NOT organized. And it doesn't bother me. AT ALL.

There are things in life that need to be just so, I get that. My silverware drawer is a specific order too. I am mocked as a result in my house. :)

My weakness is the pantry. If the cans aren't lined up exactly right, with like items together, I cannot function. I think my husband jacks it up on purpose just to watch me freak out.

Have you seen my post about my canned goods? And beer labels? And wine glasses? Bwahahaha!

I also do the exact same route through the grocery each time. How is that weird?

Oh, and FYI, your dog will look at you funny if his bowls are switched or out of place. Ours does. In fact, moving his bowls results in him not eating until he's absolutely starving. And even then, he looks at us like he's almost reluctant to try it for fear his food is poisoned or something. LMAO!

Cecily, I've found that the same people in my house that mock me for it, are the first to whine when they can't find something because its out of order!

BB's Mom,I KNOW my husband does that... I've caught him!

Sue, I apparently didn't find you until after those posts! I'll have to go back and find them now. :)

Ha Ha.
My silverware drawer is in a specific order, too.
I have my own little weird house ocd traits, too and it kills me when Hubby does it 'wrong'!
Thanks for the grins!!

I grew up with an OCD mom. NOTHING like you. You are barely a control freak compared to my mom.

point is: We used to move things around on her ALL THE TIME. It was highly amusing.

I cannot function properly if the bed is not made. It does not matter if I am in the same room or even out shopping. I know that bed is not made. AAAGGGHHH!!! The kids' beds on the other hand, are rarely made and I dont' even care.

I'm OCD about the dishwasher. The silverware needs to be separated into the same compartment each time. I'm glad my husband helped out the other night with the dishes, but I had to rearrange the dishwasher before I went to bed!

Karen, I'm the same way about the bed too!

Oh, I posted my meme. Happy was very patient while I did all the linking and commenting.

Rachel, nice to see I'm not alone with the silverware thing!

Amy, I never would have pegged you for an evil child! :)

Karen, the bed doesn't bother me so much. But leave the sofa pillows out of place..... lol

Kidzmama, I'm the same way with the dishwasher. Its always best if its been run before I get home.

And I'm headed over to your blog now to check it out. :)

Slick, I never claimed it wasn't weird! :)

I also must have my towels stacked in the closet fold-side-out. But I'm guessing that everyone insists on this. It's just common sense going on. Like the toilet paper coming down from the top and not from underneath.
