You Don't Have To Be A Bridesmaid To Catch The Bouquet

With Valentine's Day fast approaching, I think I'm going to direct Coach over to Karen at The Rocking Pony for ideas.

See what she gave me? Those gorgeous flowers!

How did she know my favorite kinds? Hmmm.... maybe Coach is one step ahead of me this year, and has actually been the one dispensing advice?

Nah.

But since Thursday is the ONLY day this week that we don't have something going on (and even that's a stretch, since Jock has baseball practice until 7 and SOMEONE has to get him home), we'll probably just hang here at the house. And really, I'm ok with that. In fact, I'm so ok with it, that I'll most likely take it one step further and not even really exert myself to cook much. Lucky for me, my boys love.Love.LOVE Velveeta Shells ~N~ Cheese. And maybe, in the spirit of Valentine's Day, I'll dress it up a bit. You know.... throw some bacon pieces in there or something.

Speaking of throwing.... I'm gonna toss one of these marvelous bouquets over to Amy at Memories and Musings of a Mommy, another one to Kidzmama at Not a Spare Minute, and one to Hallie at Wonderful World of Wieners. Now, it occurs to me that I quite probably have gifted each of these fantabulous blogging women with at least one other award before. *shrug* I'm nothing if not loyal! At the very least, that should nudge those of you who have not yet visited them to get your butts off the bench and head over there for a peek or two! (Although I'm going to caution you to watch where you're peeking at Hallie's place..... she's not at all shy about what she shows you!) (Oh... did I mention that I LOVE these women?)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And, just because I want to, and it IS my blog and I'm ALLOWED to do what I want to, I'm going to share a few small bits of randomness with you.
~~ I am going to be 35 years old in less than a month, and for the First.Time.Ever I visited the inside of the Boys' Locker Room. The parents' meeting for the Freshman baseball team was held there tonight at the high school. Yes, folks. The Boys' Locker Room. Sadly, it was not quite as glamorous as I've always believed. And for those of you who do not have boys in your house, believe me when I tell you that you will NEVER understand the exact odor of that room. However, those of you that have been blessed with sons (especially of the teenage variety, more especially of the teenage athlete variety), you will understand the dilemma of trying not to breathe. At All. Because smells that bad carry tastes with them.
~~ I spent the afternoon wishing I had gotten out of my car while in the drive through at lunch to go ask the woman in the car ahead of me a very important question. Why would you order the Double Cheeseburger, and then ask them to HOLD THE CHEESE???
~~ If I could offer one small piece of advice to an unidentified driver along my morning commute? When you discover that you have mistakenly gotten yourself on the interchange ramp to leave one freeway and get on another? Please, for the love of all that is holy, just keep going until you come to the first available off ramp, exiting safely, and then turn around. Do not... I REPEAT.... DO NOT put your tiny little car in reverse and attempt to back up, assuming that my larger vehicle will simply stop and give you the room you would like to maneuver yourself backwards and back onto the highway.
You, my scary-driving commuter friend.... will NOT be getting any bouquets tossed your direction from me this year.
You are, however, forewarned of the possibility of other, less friendly items being thrown at you.
First. Hehe.
Well, congrats on the award and I love that you passed it to Amy. She's seriously the bomb.
So what was that little car driver thinking??? And the double cheeseburger without cheese? Priceless!
You are so YOUNG!!!! What the heck?
And I always think, TOO LATE, to lay on the horn with drivers like that. Grrr.
Shellie, she's just lucky I was far enough behind to actually move over into the lane next to me, and that there wasn't more traffic!
Flea, thank you! Most days, I feel eons older!
Wait a minute, I love the smell of high school locker rooms! Testosterone, cheap cologne, sneakers, and week old uncleaned socks mingle together to create that heavenly smell. Of course, I drive real slow behind buses with my windows down also.
The boys locker room cracked me up. I know very well the taste you speak of. It hangs about in the bottom of my boys' laundry hamper as well.
Thanks so much for the flowers. I can't wait to add them to my blog.
We are the same age! 2008 is the year I turn 35 also.
When you talked about the boys locker room, I could smell (and taste) it all over again.
This sounds a little trampy, but I went into my high school boys locker room several times when I was a senior. I was the student aid for our athletic director and that is where his office was. Don't worry, there were never any BOYS in there, just that terrible smell!
QB Dad, its not so much that I dislike that smell as it is that I could have lived my whole life without having my illusions of what the boys' locker room actually smelled like... lol
Hallie, my lips are sealed! :X
Karen, it is a very distinctive odor to boys, isn't it?
Amy, 1973 was a very good year, wasn't it? :)
Thanks for the beautiful flowers! I sure needed them today. Too much time with the two year old can bring me to tears by the end of the day! I'm just a bit older than 35, but not much. I'm originally from New Jersey, so laying on the horn is my first instinct. Have a nice night off.
I have been wondering about Ode de Boys Locker room for a long time. I played basketball all through high school and the visiting locker room was almost always the boys' locker room. If you want to see ten girls shower and dress in under three minutes and not breathe a single breath during that time, make them go in the boys' locker room. What the heck do they do in there anyway?
This post made me laugh!!!! When I lived with my dad, I also had the 'lovely' opportunity to live with my two teenage stepbrothers. I refused to go into their bedrooms. Seriously, the smell would knock you over at the door. I can't even imagine what a locker room would smell like!!!!
WHAT IS UP WITH THAT????
