That has been my guiding principle for the last 17 years. That is the reason my dishes are allowed to sit in my sink; the reason my dogs are allowed to shed all over the place; the reason you'll find me at the ballpark every night from March through June; the reason I will set aside just enough money every week during football season--no matter what I need to sacrifice to do so-- for that post-game burger with my growing-up-too-quickly son.
I am determined NOT to send broken men into the world for someone else to fix.

Your feelings and this quote reminds me of something I prolly read in a Reader's Digest.
It was about a family of 3 boys. The Mother complained to the Father one warm summer's evening that all their playing football and such was ruining the lawn.
The Father said, "We aren't raising grass. We are raising boys."
