Disjointed Randomness

All three of my boys were wrestling around in my living room last night. Now, at any given time when they are rough-housing, injuries occur. Usually, its to the old man, since he's breaking down anyway. :) Last night, the injured party was Jock.

I don't know if it was an elbow, a fist, or the Gatorade bottle being used to pummel each other, but somehow or other Jock got himself socked in the eye.

After rolling around rather melodramatically with his hand slapped across his eye, he stopped long enough for me to ask him if he was going to settle down now, and be more careful next time.
His answer?

No.

Just like that. No. And then he sat up, still clutching his eye, mind you.... and grinned. I'm such a sucker for his dimples.

So I grabbed the Gatorade bottle and whacked him across the shoulder. I'm such a good mom. *sigh*

I've mentioned here before how beat up my son's legs are. Apparently, New Stunt Development is going well. Or not, depending on your perspective.

His legs were so beat up last night that even Coach noticed it. I'm really not exaggerating when I say that there is hardly a single inch of leg that does not have some sort of injury on it. And this child wears his legs like this like they are badges of honor. If I wasn't convinced that some "well-meaning" soul would report me for child abuse regardless of what is really going on, I'd take pictures of his legs and post them for you to see. (Although, since I keep this blog fairly anonymous I might do it anyway.)

So Coach was asking Bug to tell us how he got his multitude of scrapes, scratches and cuts. It went a lot like this:

I was riding my bike.....blah blah blah..... over the jumps....blah blah blah.... and I biffed it.
Blah blah blah..... bike jumps....blah blah blah.... biffed it.
I was at these different jumps.....blah blah blah..... biffed it.

Notice the trend? There is a lot of "biffing it" going on in my neck of the woods, apparently. Maybe its a new trend?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Coach normally goes to bed about 9 pm. He has to get up at 4 in the stinking morning, so it makes sense that he goes to bed the same time as Bug. The last couple of nights he's broken his pattern, though.
The last two nights, he's waited up for me to finish with Bug's bedtime routine. Then he pulls me down to sit next to him on the sofa, where he proceeds to lay in my lap.
And promptly fall asleep. Where he snores. Loudly.
When I shoved... I mean, nudged him gently to ask him if he'd rather go lay down in his bed where he could snore more comfortably, he said (might have been closer to a mumble, but I'll take it)....
But you're not there.
*sigh*
Some nights, he makes it all worthwhile.
Boys. What can you say? I love the honesty of Jock the proud biffing of Bug. But it's Coach that made me smile today. Is that dear or what?!
You've been married how long and Coach still wants to curl up in your lap?
It is wonderful to be silly in love after so many years.
It's kind of hard to mad at a snoring guy that just wants to be where you are. Really, that is just so sweet!
Perhaps Jock's code name should be Biff for now on?
He certainly has his moments! We passed the 15 year mark this past December, so it really is awesome that he still does things like this!
Found you by way of LunaNik... my son (14 yo) is a sk8er boy, so I empathize with the leg scrapes - new stunt development... haha.
That's so sweet! Seriously...!
NExt time hold his nose shut then he won't want you there! ;) Still really sweet!
Tara, welcome! :) Hope to see you again! My Bug is 9, and thinks he's the next great bicycle stuntman. :)
Stella, I've honestly tried everything. It stops for a little bit, and then starts right up again. I actually think he's got some other sleep issues, but that's a whole 'nother story!
Coach sounds sweet. Have you taken Karen's poll at The Rocking Pony? ;)
it's amazing how bashed and bruised boys legs are! and...the difference in my daughters legs...barely a nasty mark on them! it's hilarious!
as for your hubby...that's so sweet...you should probably keep him around...at least until he completely breaks down...then, you can trade him in for a newer, younger model.
Awwwwww. He loves you!! I LOVE those moments!
I wouldn't make it past the dimples either.
I LOVE the term 'biffing it'. It paints such a clear and perfect picture.
Oh, and by the way, you didn't miss anything on my entry. I do that a lot....just throw up one short random and than go back and add to it. Sorry.
Your comment about the boys and the squishy finger is still making me laugh. You're right. It a good thing I didn't say it to Isaac. Like I said, I STINK at that sort of thing...
OK. What is biffing? I thinkn I need to know... I have two boys myself.
Very, Very sweet about Coach. They always seem to know when (how) to say just the right thing!
That's great, we have four boys + husband, so it's amazing there is a stick of furniture left in the house!
~Drunken Honey, blog hoppin'!
I have bruised up boys too. I'm not sure how they have survived so far. Our furniture hasn't.
