The Tides May Be Turning

At least, lets hope so since we have only a few games left in the season.

Jock had a game yesterday. Now, he had told me the night before that he would be starting, which, as you know, has not happened yet this season. And with yesterday being April 1, I was a tad bit concerned that someone was going to be the victim of a cruel practical joke. Either Jock (from the coach) or myself (from Jock). Yay for me! Nothing like that was the case!

He actually started. Better yet, he played the whole damn game! And he played amazingly awesome! He had a beautiful catch in the outfield, that involved him running from left to center and catching the ball, and he had some awesome solid hits. He didn't screw even one thing up!! (Ok, I know that sounds bad. Its not as if he always makes mistakes when he does get a chance, but there wasn't even ONE HINT of an error out there by him.)

It was the best game EVER. At the end, he walked out of that dugout towards the bus with the biggest grin on his face, and just looking all bright and shiny. His coaches were smiling, too. Although that might have been because we had just beaten our biggest rival. And by beaten? I mean stomped them flat. The game was called at the end of the 5th inning because we were up by 12 runs. How cool is that?

Lets hope this streak continues. Because last night at my house? It was actually somewhat pleasant.

In other news.....

It appears that the powers that be behind the magic that is television might want to think about ramping things up a bit. It seems that its not as big a distraction as it once was. Because when Bug was told to make sure and get his homework finished before practice last night, he informed me that it was so easy he could do it with the TV on and still get it done without any problems.

Really? With the TV on?

Apparently, he was able to do that, and the TV wasn't as major a distraction as I'd feared. At least in the homework department. As a distraction from his chores, however, it appears the TV is extremely successful. Because when I got home, the living room was still engulfed by breakfast messes.

I'm so happy to hear about the baseball game. That the coach had him play the whole game against a major rival speaks volumes!

TV? What is this of which you speak? The magic box, with its siren call?

Apparently they were just saving him for when they really needed something spectacular. Seems like they're happy with the results. Yeah all around!

That is excellent news! I'm happy for your boy.

The old TV-won't-distract-me trick. I've fallen victim to it myself.

I can do work while I watch TV, but cleaning the room the TV is in is another story...I am so a ten year old sometimes!

So the coach finally came to his senses and let Jock play, eh?? That's great! Even better that he played a flawless game. Here's hoping he gets to continue to play as a starter regularly.
