I Have Nothing Against Rollercoasters....

....just not at 10,000 feet!

Turbulence. From take off to landing, my flight home today felt like one long amusement park ride. Only there was no little guy standing on the ground to pull the emergency shut off switch if I screamed loud enough. Okay, so I wasn't screaming. That? Was left to the FOUR BABIES in the five rows (in front, across from them, across from me, behind me, across from them) surrounding me. I just resorted to my Lamaze breathing to keep my tummy settled. And apparently the airplane gods heard my complaining about the temperature on the flight out there, as I couldn't get the air to work at all on this flight. I'm not sure why I was happier to land: finally being off the possessed aircraft, or seeing and holding my family again!

I'm home!!

I had a great time at my mom's these last few days, though. It was so good to get to see her again. I've really missed her. I also had a few added bonuses on this trip. I got to catch up with a friend that I've known since the 4th grade, but haven't seen since graduation. I got to have breakfast with one of my closest friends and her three awesome boys. I got to have brunch with my mom's best friend since they were five, whom I used to babysit for. And I got to spend an entire day with my niece, who morphed into a teenager without my knowledge or consent! Despite her insistence on growing up, she's a spectacular young lady, and I had a phenomenal time hanging out with her. Its been so long since I spent all day simply laughing at whatever it is that 14 year old girls laugh at (which? for the record? is just about EVERYTHING) that I had forgotten how amazing that is. Also? I'd forgotten that that much laughter seriously works your stomach muscles!

We talked about boys. For the record, since she's promised she's going to start reading this blog, I'm going to say that I still think you should NOT keep the current boyfriend and SHOULD go for the lawn boy! We gossiped about her brother. We talked a lot about clothes and hair. We watched movies that I don't get to watch with my boys. And then she did the sweetest thing. This 14 year old girl called my house just to talk to her almost-10 year old cousin, who the older boys (Jock and her brother--who, at only 10 hours younger than Jock is just as obnoxious sometimes!) don't pay any attention to unless they're picking on him. Bug was thrilled! So thrilled that he proceeded to talk her ear off. She really didn't know what she had gotten into. Poor thing.

Really, not a lot happened on this trip. And isn't that the way it should be? I went to Denver just to hang out with my mom, and relax. To not have to worry about anything beyond how my mom and I could enjoy the day. I didn't check email for a couple of days. I didn't read any blogs (and might not even try to catch up.... my apologies to my blog friends. Its nothing personal.). I really only even called home to say goodnight to my boys, but didn't check in several times a day. There was no need to worry... Coach is an amazing dad, and I could relax knowing he had it all under control here.

Although.....

I'm still doing laundry at 11 o'clock tonight, to make sure it all gets done.

I am so HAPPY you had such a great time!!

I'm also glad your house is still standing (I continue to maintain that if I left for that long I would come home to a hole in a ground and Jon and the kids trying to figure out who to blame) and that you landed safely. Whew.

Sorry about the laundry. If it makes you feel better I was doing it at 11pm too, and no one went anywhere...

That's would've sent me over the edge. I am the world's worst flyer. I would have screamed bloody murder. I'm glad you had a relaxing trip home.

Sounds like you had a wonderful time! And, as far as the blogs go, don't catch up...I'm sure you didn't miss anything that exciting anyway ;)

That's EXACTLY how a trip home should be. Uneventful, other than the typical travel woes.

Welcome home!
