*and yes, I'm sneaking in some much needed blog time here at work.... who knew blogging withdrawal would be so intense?*
One of the things I find most endearing about Jock is that he loves to bake cookies. Although I use the term "bake" loosely, as his recipe really just consists of correctly placing a "break and bake" batch on the cookie sheet and not overdoing them. Regardless, one of his favorite things is to bake cookies for us.
At least, we've always assumed it was for US. As in, all of us. The entire family. Apparently, this is not truly the case.
Jock made chocolate chip cookies the other night. They were really yummy. (Props to the Wal-Mart Great Value brand of break and bake cookies!) I had a couple (that's my story and I'm sticking to it, thankyouverymuch), Coach had one or two, and Bug.... well, when it comes to cookies, I'm thinking my otherwise brilliant child forgets how to count. Which in all likelihood is what caused all the cookies to have disappeared by the time Jock got home from football practice yesterday. Believe me, he was very upset. He had arrived home after a grueling practice, ready to hunker down and get his homework knocked out....only to find himself looking at an empty plate where there once had been yummy, gooey chocolate chip cookies. He called me, very upset with his little brother, and as the mama my job was to talk him down off that ledge. But I ran out of words of wisdom, or maybe they were just caught up in the laughter that was happening, when he said this to me:
All I wanted was to come home, sit down, and enjoy my cookies.
Son, some days that's all I want, too.

Oh, that gave me a good, hearty laugh.
Poor dude. He could really use those calories!
Those are the only kind of cookies we make here too. I have NO kitchen skills.
Welcome to the life of a mother. I just want to enjoy my cookies too but those darn kids eat them too fast!
Okay, even though its sad for Jock that he has no cookies to enjoy, that last line made me laugh outloud.
And now I am wondering what exactly you mean by cookies...
LOL!!! Isn't it hilarious when they hit mid-teens? They start to see and feel our pan, but they don't get that we feel it too. Too funny!
that is too cute! poor Guy! you know when you come home planning on a delicious treat , to find them all gone it's ultra disappointing. watch out he'll start hiding them.
