Its All About The Numbers

8,014.

That is the number of text messages Jock's portion of our cell bill shows for the month of November. Go on. Take another look at that number. And... this is AFTER I threatened him with extreme action (total phone confiscation) A WEEK AGO to stop texting anyone. *actually, he did pretty well with that... only had about 300 more added after that conversation; I think that's because my online tracking is about 24 hours behind* Can you imagine how high that number could have been if he'd been allowed an additional 7 days???

This is the number of laundry loads I had to do this weekend. Bug had more than any of us. I swear that boy changes clothes at least three times a day. And that is only if you count the clothes he actually wears out of his room. He's very determined that everything match-- from his shirt, to his jeans, to his hat. He'll take one or two, most days its around 4, shirts off hangers, try them on, and then reject them. Tossing them onto his bedroom floor for the dogs to take naps on. I've begun threatening, however, to force him to scrounge around on his bedroom floor for things to wear to school if things don't start getting hung back up. And I'll hide the sticky roller thing, so he's forced to wear everything with dog hair.

This is the total number of times (give or take a couple) I said this phrase yesterday:

And did you READ the Parent Code of Conduct before you signed it?

I'm on the board of our local Little League, and we held our first registration for the Spring season yesterday. After almost ten years of being involved in various sports for young athletes, I can say with absolute certainty that the overwhelming majority of parents don't actually read that piece of paper. Now, that is not to say that the overwhelming majority of parents break any of these rules, as they don't. I'm very proud of most of our parents in this community for being awesome examples to their children. However, I can guarantee that the ones we have problems with..... signed the Code of Conduct without ever having read it. I know this because they argue with me the entire time I'm escorting them out of the ballpark. Apparently, in some areas of the country, it is perfectly acceptable to tell your son or daughter's coach to do something anatomically impossible while spicing their names up with various obscenities and adjectives.

Oh yeah. I love this parenting gig.

Those are some BIG numbers.
You have me beat! My kids are too little to text.
I only did 2 loads (3 if you count the towels that were still in the dryer from last weekend.)
I don't even know what to say about the code of conduct....
Crazy competitive parents with broken brain mouth filters....Go Get 'Em Girl!

Oh, the laundry. Dont' even get me started. Weekends are usually my time off from washing. But through the week I do from 2-6 loads every. single. day. Needless to say, Mondays are a 6 load day.

I'm so guilty. I do not read anything. But neither have I been escorted from anywhere. I also do not request that people do anotomically impossible feats. You go, escorter of foul-mouthed fanatics!

Amy, just wait! If its bad now, I can only imagine what it will be like in 5 years when Bug is old enough. Ugh.

Karen, I do not envy you your laundry piles. It would be so much worse if I had more kids. And I love my new title! "Escorter of Foul Mouthed Fanatics" I'm going to put that on my next name badge! lol

Lunanik, I think its all in the teenage thumbs. I don't know that I could even come close to what he does!

Please tell me that he has UNLIMITED TEXTING??? Oh God, my stomach gets all squishy thinking about. When CJ left for the Air Force, we made sure he added that to his cell phone plan. He is a dir hard texter.

Btw, LOVE LOVE LOVE the WHAM song!!

I'm pretty sure I won't write that many text messages in my entire life. I once figured out that I could just dial a phone number faster than I could type out a sentence. Texting no longer made much sense.

I did 0 loads of laundry this weekend. I will do 0 loads of laundry this week. I will do 0 loads of laundry this month. Just throwing that out there whilst I suggest that more husbands jump on the "I'll do the laundry" bandwagon.

BB Mom, I, too try to call instead of text when possible. But I'll admit that I'm guilty of doing the texting thing when I should be listening to something or someone else. :) And in poor Coach's defense.... he does quite a bit of the cooking and cleaning, so it makes it easier to let him out of laundry duty! I AM teaching the boys, though. ;)

Love the numbers! I just found your blog and am enjoying it.

Here's my number, 4. The number of times I started reading your blog today, but got interrupted by the kiddos.

I don't even know how to text message. It sounds like that's a good thing.

Oh, the music is awesome!

Jock sounds like he would be a good canidate for a cell phone commercial on unlimited texting. YIKES!

As for the clothes on the floor, what works for my girls is I've threatened (and have taken away) one hour of television every time I walk in and see ANY clothes or WET towels (grrr!) on their floor. I've slacked but I've got to get back on that soap box.

Kidzmama, welcome! Feel free to poke around a bit! The fridge is always stocked with Gatorade and the pantry is always full here at the Sports Mama's house! :) Glad you like the music. The great thing about it is that you can feel ok about being interrupted by the kiddos, since its a streaming playlist. The music will just keep playing until you leave the page, and will scroll through the 20 or so songs I have on there!

Cece, I've tried that approach, actually. All it did was encourage them to go outside more! ;)

Wowza.
Um... 14 loads of laundry thanks :-) LOL!!
Thanks for the compliments. Now run over there and you can read the saga of the template change. Seriously, need a laugh? Yes. Please laugh at my expense!!
So what? People are supposed to read things before they sign them? You're so crazy!
