I'd Like To Use A Lifeline, Regis

I'm going to ask the audience. (Um... that would be you guys. You know, the five of you that are still around reading me. The ones that haven't gotten bored with my boringness lately, slinking off to frequent other, more interesting blogs. Yeah, you.)

You all know that I don't use real names here. That's not going to change. If I wanted someone from real life to be able to find me on the Internet, I'd give them the URL. These days, everyone Googles everyone, and while I'm pretty up front and honest about my life with anyone, I just don't think you need to come find this cozy little place via a Google search for my name. It would be like some long lost friend from 20 years ago just suddenly showing up on my front doorstep. While it would be nice to see them and get caught up on life, I'd really rather they didn't get their current information from the state of my unvacuumed living room, or the dishes on the counter. Some advance notice is always nice for new people showing up. That way, we can plan a party.

Of course, this only applies to people I have some deep seated need to impress. You know, anyone from high school when my future was planned to perfection. Which I'll remind you is NOT where it is now. Anyone else is welcome to come by anytime they want, brush the dog hair off the sofa cushion, grab a drink out of the fridge, and sit down with me to watch the insanity that is my life play itself out.

So yeah, the names will always remain anonymous. However, I've begun thinking lately that maybe I should post some pictures, if for no other reason than to verify that yes, I really do have that husband and kids I'm always babbling about. My fear in that goes back to some of the scary traffic hits I get, and my paranoia about someone, somewhere actually recognizing one of my kids and thus bringing the big, bad scary world right to our doorsteps.

My question to you is this...... should I start including pictures of my life here in the desert hell that is Arizona? Or should I keep things photo-less, and continue to encourage you all to exercise those imagination muscles by trying to decide if I'm blonde, brunette or a stunning redhead?

Let me know what you think, and why. Yes, this is a mini-essay quiz, boys and girls. But if simple "yes" or "no" answers are not accepted out of my children, why should you be any different?

I vote pics but only cuz I'd love to have some faces to go with your great stories.

But if you decide not to add the, I'll still come back.

Of course, I'll continue to picture you all as 600+ pound, wart covered ogres!

I love pics, and there have been several times that I've read your posts and thought, oh, I'd love to see a picture of that. But I'm in the same boat...I can't decide. I've gone more anonymous, but does that mean no pics?? I'll be reading these comments to see what other people think, and can't wait to see what you decide. xoxo

I would love to see some pics of you and your family! It would be nice to put a face with a name. What me, and a few other mommy bloggers do, is delete the pic out of the older posts after a few weeks. This way, anyone who isn't a regular reader, who just stumbles upon some random post of yours will not see pics of your family.

I would love to see some pictures! I think it would be great to have faces to put with your stories! I have these images in my head and I'd love to know if they're accurate or not!

I'm always all for pictures, but I know that you really and truly exist even without them.

I love pictures. I enjoy posting them and I enjoy seeing them. I haven't done it, but you can always put them up and remove them from a post after a week if you don't want them around for always.

Heck yeah! You're anonymous enough with the whole name thing. Post those pictures! Don't let fear rule your blogging life. Do it! :)

do it! hilarious comments on the subject. Hallie is hilarious!
be bold. it makes it so much more exciting to see who you are talking about. totally just my opinion here, and i am new. but still. you asked. i answered. and hello! if you want a blogger lunch you could have one with ME! it would ruin the whole anonymous thing maybe but be really fun! i am WAY FUN in real life. and live in the same state logistically it's feasible. just throwing that out there. while i'm at it.
