Football has given them common ground with their peers, so they can make friends that will hopefully last a lifetime. (Or at least all through school!)
Football has taught them how to assess a situation, and make a decision using their best judgement.
Football has taught them the benefits of good hydration.
Football has taught them sportsmanship, and how to be both humble after a win and gracious after a loss. (BTW...we won tonight. 40-12)
Football has helped to teach them to believe and have faith in a higher power, to look to Him for protection and guidance; and to not be ashamed to show that belief in front of others.
Football has also given them the ability to detect their mom with her camera anywhere on the field. And react accordingly.
**I really wasn't standing that close to him in any of these shots. I just discovered my camera has an awesome zoom lens!**

LOVE this post!!! I'm learning the same things about football.
Jon always said it was the best thing he ever did for himself (remember, he forged his parents' signature to play in the seventh grade, so he really did do it for himself) as a kid because it taught him so much and kept him out of trouble after his dad died.
FAB pictures. Makes me really stoked to remember to bring my camera tomorrow to the game (which is at the crack of dawn...)!!!
Oh, and 8:00 PM here is cool to call but I may only be able to talk for a minute. Isaac is home from practice about that time and its a mad fury after that. You may be better off calling like midnight my time if you want to know the truth. :)

I'm glad you write down your perspective of a mom in the stands of a football game. My kiddos are not team player sports people. They tried their fair share of soccer, softball, and baseball, but they are into Taekwondo right now. They are more confident than ever. I guess I would be too if I could break wood with my hand and foot.
I find it both amazing and wonderful that players can pray on a school field before a game, and they can't pray in school or at graduation ceremonies.
Awww. Love that your camera's zoom worked so well. You are brave. I'm terrified of anything other than mine playing punter or place kicker.
I LOVE these football pictures!! This is part of why Fall is my favorite time of year!
