It Was On The Box The Whole Time

I was Officer of the Day up at the ballpark tonight, leaving my guys to fend for themselves when it came time for dinner. Actually, this happens frequently. Sometimes, I don't even have to leave the house for them to be put into the position of fending for themselves. Sad, but true.

Anyway, when I got home this evening, Coach was cleaning up the boxes left on the counter. Evidence of the microwave burgers they had. He shared with me this little gem, that will probably never be admitted to:

Bug (as he was heading into the other room): Ok, I put the burger in the microwave. Tell me when it beeps, Dad.
Coach: Did you wrap it in a paper towel?
Bug: **pausing** Um, no. Why do I need to do that?
Coach: To keep the bread from getting dry. And do you know how long to put it in for?
Bug (over the sounds of the microwave door opening): How the heck would I know that?
Coach (laughing now): The directions. On the box.
Bug: Oh. **pause** I've done that once.
Coach: Done what once?
Bug: Read the directions.

Never a dull moment around here, folks. Never a dull moment.

I'm pretty sure that my kids would have done the same thing!

I don't think my husband usually reads the directions on the box, so i would be really surprised if any kind of similar conversation ever took place in our house. Just wouldn't happen. Dad and Son would both be eating hard burgers.
